This research looks at the physical changes of the heritage shophouses after adaptive-reuse initiatives and the effects on society socially. The case study is shophouses at Jalan Tun H.S.Lee in Kuala Lumpur. The result from the questionnaire survey reflects the perception of the users on the impact of the adaptive reuse of shophouses in terms of the social value to the society. Nonetheless, adaptive reuse projects should involve more social engagements and a wider variety of building typologies.

Keywords: social impact, adaptive-reuse, quality of life

eISSN: 2398-4287 © 2022.
