The increased livable community will also improve the quality of life. The research is a descriptive explorative with the quantitative and qualitative approach. The exploration of place shaping formation in research sample based on four variables, namely: management strategies, public areas, and activity generators, planning strategies and design strategies. The results of this study found that the process of shaping place in formal housing requires the cooperation of developers, planners, property management and residents. The settlement which can maintain the identity, function, order and appearance of the built environment can improve the livable neighborhood. </p><p><em>Keywords:</em> place shaping, residential area, livable neighborhood</p><p><em>ISSN: 2398-4287</em><em>© 2017.
