Abstract

The Malay world is known for its strong culture and identity with high aesthetical value and the spread of Islam in the region has raised the nobility of Malay civilization. Previous beliefs and spiritual practices have intricately developed a significant tradition, culture, and identity of the people. Henceforth, the literature in the Malay world plays an essential verification in Malay history. Recent studies stated that the lack of appreciation of Malay Hikayat manuscripts is becoming a growing concern. This study attempts to identify and evaluate the ornamental design of Malay Hikayat manuscripts that influence the Malay socio-cultural and tradition.
