Abstract

The textile industry significantly impacts the environment through waste generation, contributing to landfill space in Malaysia. This research explores innovative solutions for using textile waste in handmade paper production. Objectives include identifying and classifying suitable textile waste types, evaluating natural and synthetic fiber extraction processes, and developing eco-friendly formulations. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study emphasizes experimental aspects and the 3R concept (reduce, recycle, reuse) for sustainability. Outcomes will promote recycling and repurposing textile waste in papermaking, highlighting the social and economic benefits of sustainable practices in the industry.
