Ceramic sculpture in Malaysia is emerging, yet the high cost of equipment limits full-time artists. This study determines how beginner ceramic students can use the traditional hand-building method, which includes pinching, coiling, and slab building, to create large-form sculptures. Through studio-based and observational research, the study found that students, despite their inexperience, successfully produced large-scale works. The results highlight the effectiveness of hand-building techniques in overcoming equipment barriers and underscore their potential for enhancing students' skills and expanding their creative possibilities in academic settings.
