Examining Validity and Reliability of Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices Questionnaire on Water Conservation for Young Learners

A validated and reliable knowledge, attitudes and practices questionnaire on water conservation was developed for primary school students. Adapted from previous research, the instrument was tested in a pilot study involving 51 Year 5 students in Seberang Perai Utara, Pulau Pinang, where the water cycle is a core component of the Science curriculum. Content validity, assessed by three experts using Content Validity Index (CVI, achieved a perfect score of 1.0. Face validity confirmed clarity, while reliability analysis yielded acceptable Cronbach’s Alpha (0.71) and KR-20 (0.73). The refined questionnaire serves as a robust tool for assessing and fostering water conservation behaviours among young learners.
