Abstract

Shopping tourism in Indonesia has shifted from a supplementary activity to a primary motivation for travel, especially in Yogyakarta, Bandung, Jakarta and Batam. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, encompassing publications from 2014 to 2025. Findings indicate that shopping tourism supports the regional economy through tourist spending, strengthens the destination's image, and preserves local culture by promoting traditional crafts. Key challenges include low service quality, weak infrastructure, and regional competition. Culture-driven collaboration, digitalisation, and community empowerment are essential for sustainable shopping tourism development
