This study examines how Malaysia's National Day logos communicate national identity through structured visual analysis. The study aims to explore a methodological approach for examining visual objects through a design lens. The objective of this research is to determine analytical techniques in design that incorporate formal and interpretive aspects of visual communication. Using an adapted visual content analysis method, six logos representing major evolutionary phases were analysed for colour, typography, shape, and symbolism. Findings reveal shifts in aesthetic style and national messaging across decades. While limited to six samples, the study highlights significance of systematic visual methods in design research.
