This study aims to evaluate how to involve local community to achieve sustainability in tourism development. Through a conceptual approach, it proposes a comprehensive model for supporting sustainable tourism development in Malaysia. This model emphasizes local community' perceptions of place identity, political trust sustainability awareness, economic benefit, and local community involvement to support sustainability in Malaysia. The study evaluates community views on tourism development, considering both positive and negative impacts, and assesses their support for sustainable tourism development based on their attitudes. Furthermore, the study employs stakeholder theory to underpin four research propositions.
