Author Instructions

Please read these instructions before preparing your manuscript. Papers reach E-BPJ through AMER's conferences; see Calls for Papers for how to submit, and Aims and Scope to check that your paper fits the journal.

1. Abstract first

Submit your abstract to the conference first. If it is accepted, you will receive the E-BPJ manuscript template and be invited to submit a full paper.

2. Template and length

Prepare the full paper in the E-BPJ template provided with your abstract acceptance. Full papers should be about 3,500 words, written in clear academic English. Manuscripts that do not follow the template, or are uploaded with incomplete metadata, incur a formatting surcharge of USD 50 (see Author Fees).

3. Preparing for double-blind review

Remove all author names, affiliations and acknowledgements from the manuscript file, and avoid wording that identifies you (for example, "as we showed in our earlier study"). Author details are provided separately.

4. Structure

Title, abstract and keywords.
Introduction: background, aims and objectives, and how the study relates to environment-behaviour or Quality of Life research.
Literature Review: how the study relates to existing work and the gap it addresses, using up-to-date sources.
Methodology: enough detail to repeat the study, with the reasons for the methods chosen and their limitations.
Results / Findings: a clear, structured account of the results.
Discussion: what the findings mean, in relation to the aims, the literature and relevant theory.
Conclusion and Recommendations: the contribution, practical recommendations and future research.

Reviewers assess papers against these same points; see Peer Review.

5. References

Use APA style (7th edition), with DOIs where available. Cite only relevant sources; see the citation rules in Ethics and Malpractice.

6. Figures and tables

Number every figure and table, give each a title, and refer to each in the text. Figures must be clear at the published size. Get permission for, and credit, any figure or image created by someone else.

7. Required statements

Include these at the end of the paper, before the references (leave out anything that would identify you in the version for review):

Ethics approval and consent: the ethics committee and approval reference, or why approval was not needed, and how consent was obtained.
Conflict of interest: any relevant relationships, or the standard statement given in Ethics and Malpractice.
Data availability: whether the data, code or materials are publicly available, and where; if not, why not.
Use of generative AI: the tool and what it was used for, or a statement that none was used.
Author contributions: what each author did.
Funding and acknowledgements.

8. Authors and ORCID

The corresponding author must provide an ORCID iD. All authors must meet authorship criteria and approve the manuscript. The author list and order cannot be changed after submission, except in exceptional cases approved by the Editor-in-Chief.

9. After you submit

Every full paper is checked with Turnitin, then peer reviewed. If revisions are requested, submit the revised paper with a response explaining how you addressed each reviewer comment, by the deadline you are given.
