Abstract

Parental involvement (PI) plays a crucial role in children’s development, yet a systematic overview of the field remains lacking. This review aims to identify the global research landscape, hotspots, and trends of PI in education. A total of 1,523 Web of Science articles (2013–2024) in English were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection and analyzed using CiteSpace for co-citation and co-occurrence network analyses. The results highlight PI’s role in boosting academic achievement, fostering home–school collaboration, and supporting children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development. These findings offer valuable implications for future research directions and evidence-based educational policies to enhance parental engagement and school–family partnerships across diverse contexts.
